Crew Resource Management training
(CRM) is one of the areas which holds great promise in addressing the
major issues in aviation safety. Most analyses find that 70% to 80% of
aviation accidents and incidents are a result of human factors breakdowns.
CRM and other related training methods are designed to address these
causal factors. |

|
Over the years, I have often captured my thoughts and ideas in written
form. Here on the FLIGHT DECK, I have included a selection
of papers which have been published and presented by me, and the works
of others which I find valuable. |

|
One of the areas I feel is very important is training and learning. The FLIGHT DECK includes
links to topics such as low fidelity simulation, virtual reality, crew
resource management, flight deck automation, constructive learning theory,
and distance learning. |

We are living in a very exciting time with many
opportunities to grow and improve our society and planet. There are also
many challenges which we must meet. This section
of the FLIGHT DECK includes material on scenario-based planning, the
emerging information economy, and how they affect aviation and aviation
training. |
